Rivers Angels Dominate FC Robo 4-2 to Secure NWFL Group B Lead

Rivers Angels showcased their attacking prowess with a commanding 4-2 win over FC Robo in the Nigeria Women’s Football League NWFL on Wednesday, propelling them to the top of Group B. The game, held in Port Harcourt, saw captain Polinus Ifeoma lead by example, opening the scoring with a brilliant ninth-minute free kick. However, FC Robo quickly equalized through Kemi Adegbuyi four minutes later.



After a tightly contested first half, Rivers Angels took control in the second period. Aminat Folorunsho restored their lead in the 50th minute with a well timed volley, and Ifeoma Ikenokwalu’s deflected free kick extended the advantage just three minutes later. Peace Effiong sealed the win with a 65th minute penalty, while Chidinma Ogbuchi’s late free-kick goal for FC Robo proved to be only a consolation.



Rivers Angels coach Whyte Ogbonda praised his team’s second half response, attributing the victory to their character and resilience. With this win, Rivers Angels now sit one point ahead of the Lagos Landladies, keeping their Super Six qualification ambitions alive.
