5e Jump Calculator
You’ve found 5e Jump Calculator, a small online tool built to solve one oddly specific D&D 5e problem: working out jump distances.
If you’ve ever stopped a session to flip through the Player’s Handbook, debated how far a character can really leap, or tried to reconstruct from memory how Strength and movement interact, this tool was built with you in mind.
What Is 5e Jump Calculator?
5e Jump Calculator is a simple online helper that automates the D&D 5e jump math so you don’t have to.
You plug in your character’s stats—including Strength, height, and situational modifiers—and the calculator spits out your:
Maximum long jump distance
High jump height
Effective reach while jumping
Key distances based on the 5e rules as written
No page-flipping, no rough estimates—just clear results you can rely on.
Why This Calculator Exists
This site was born from real table frustration.
As a D&D fan who runs and joins games, I kept running into the same situation:
A player asks, "Can I make that jump?" and everyone stops to argue about the math.
The 5e rules for jumping are simple on paper but annoying in the moment. I found myself reaching for the PHB over and over again, so I did what many nerdy DMs do: I made a dedicated tool.
5e Jump Calculator began as something I used just for my home games, and then I decided to share it in case other tables were just as tired of flipping pages mid-session.
Under the Hood (Without the Jargon)
This tool follows the official Dungeons & Dragons 5th Edition jumping rules found in the Player’s Handbook.
