Quality control is not good enough

The board was beautiful, looked nice but we noticed a porous cavity on the surface. This one would not be safe to use as it is not possible to clean properly. It was our first purchase from this company and it was a bit disappointing as we expected a better quality control. Gladly a replacement is on the way. Also, as was noticed by other users - the board looked very dry, so season it well before the usage.Update: the replacement was with some defects too. It will be returned. The quality is very disappointing, I’m not a client of JB anymore.

    Maple cutting board

I read a gentlemans comment earlier that said the board were dry and needed to be oiled alot he also said not to get water on them for a year! But I agree now that I have mine. I would love to just soak the whole thing for days in oil honestly. This maple is a gorgeous board made beautifully, for that Id give it 5 stars, but it needs a ton of oiling to be ready for serious daily use. The tiniest amount of water and the wood grain rises, so be aware.

    Disappointed in Boo's quality control

I have never written a bad review. I choose to return and or reach out to the seller. But unfortunately, I have had such a disappointing experience with the quality of these Boos cutting boards. 5 Total! As you can see, I really wanted one of these boards and tried to be optimistic. On Christmas morning my husband surprised me with a Boos 15x20” cherry wood cutting board he purchased at William and Sonoma. When I closely looked at it, I saw that the edges were raised in several places. Not feeling comfortable with so many edges raised we took it back to William and Sonoma. Because I was looking for reassurance that there was nothing wrong with this board, I asked the salesperson what she thought about the raised edges? She said it should not be like that, I appreciated her honesty. Then I saw Amazon had the Boos 20x15” Walnut cutting board on sale for $167 from $233.95 so I decided to purchase one of these boards from Amazon. When the first one arrived, I did a thorough inspection of the board without removing the original plastic wrapping. The first one had a worm hole in it. I understand being wood this can happen, but it should have been filled in. It wasn’t. This was an oversight by Boos. The second board had a slice in it about 1/16” deep and 1 1/2” long, and next to the slice was a dent. The only thing I can think of is at the factory where the board was made a tool must have put the slice and dent in it. I exchanged out the second board, hopeful the replacement board would arrive as it should, without holes and slices in it. The replacement board was beautiful until I saw the knot in the center on one side. I understand knots are common and add character but again this should have been filled in since it was an open knot. Holes in cutting boards can be a big problem, they accumulate water and food particles causing bacteria and wood splitting not good. The thing is Amazon’s packaging was in good condition. I was so disappointed I called Boos thinking they might

    Wood Cutting Board

Great quality! Bought this as a gift and very glad I removed it from the box to wrap it beforehand because it came with a ton of dust all over it, and a whole handprint in this weird white dust. It washed off extremely easily and looked good as new after a scrub!
