Great value and features in a compact and powerful 1050 watt Mirowave oven.

We really like this GE 1050w Microwave Oven. We choose it because it have a comprhensive set of cooking features and and seemed to offer substantial value at that price point. It's a nice compact size but quite powerful, easy to use control panel and the Air Fry function was an extra benefit and works well too. Our last Japanese brand microwave oven last almost 20 years so hopefully the product reliability will be there for the GE one. I would have like to have a more detailed user manual included with the product. We've only been a it for a little over a month and I plan to provide a more detailed review in the future.

A few very, very annoying things......

I searched for some time for a new microwave. I settled on this one for a few reasons. Optics - it closely resembled the one I had to replace, GE is a tried & trusted brand, & had extra features. It is very quiet while running. It heats things much faster than my previous one, and has options that are very handy to have. Basically I have 2 complaints. If I had known them - I very well may have continued looking. The key pad is very, very hard to see unless it is in a very bright room. It isn't backlit, and the color of the letters aren't bright enough from the color of the keypad to stand out. It seems like the buttons people use most often should be at the top or bottom corners of the keypad. Since the keypad is so difficult to see - you can't just walk up to it and push the 30 second button without really scrutinizing for the location of the button. Very annoying! A microwave is supposed to be quick and convenient. Unless you have xray vision - that isn't going to happen. The other problem I have with it is that you have to press the buttons toward the bottom left of that button - or you'll be pressing forever with no results! And even then, you have to press it in just the right spot. You can forget about just walking up to the unit and pressing the button you want and get results. It's like "hit & miss". Just hope you get the right spot. I can't tell you how many things that have gotten way to hot because I didn't press the button in just the right spot before it shut off! If I had known, it would have been a dealbreaker.

Perhaps the Best Purchase I Ever Made on Amazon

Built almost as good as my original Amana Radarange from 40 years ago. It has a real all stainless steel INTERIOR, not just trim on the outside front. Very roomy. Really fast and powerful. Fairly quiet. Incredibly versatile range of controls and functions take a little while to learn. Definitely download the full manual. The unit doesn't come with enough instructions. They really should give you the full printed manual. Comes with 2 accessory racks and a pan for air frying. Has a broiler and convection oven. When using the convection oven, the outside remains surprisingly cool. In fact, the convection oven and air fryer really doesn't heat the kitchen. It uses a fraction of the energy of my electric oven. It's big enough for almost anything but big cookie sheets or a turkey. Plates and half gallon Pyrex measuring cups fit with room to spare. I have a really small kitchen, so the fact that the air fryer, convection oven, toaster/broiler and microwave take up just the space of a microwave is a game changer. The only thing(s) that makes it less than the absolute perfect product is that only the time display lights up. (and no full printed manual.) At night, it's impossible to see where to press for various functions. Perhaps the best purchase I ever made on Amazon.

Two for the price of one.

It looks good and fits well on a small counter. I always wanted an air fryer but did not have the space for it and a microwave -- this is a twofer. Its easy to use -- my only criticism is that the control panel is not backlit.

The Good, the Bad, & the Ugly, of GE 4-n-1 Microwave

Well I thought I was getting the Panasonic 4-n-1 and somehow ended up with GE’s. The WORST thing is no real user manuel. You can’t look up when to use the special rack & pan or where. You can’t look up “broil”, or “convection” and get complete constructions. They just have a highly general sheet and the rest is purely up to you to find your way & guess.I hopped on YouTube to look for a full-on film! None by either GE nor customers that did a complete explanation. GE’s is just a commercial & most people got on to rave about the Hot-Air Fry or Microwave. Some complained that the turn table breaks easily and so does the open catch. I’d say, release the Childproof lock (their little sheet tells you how) so as not to wear out parts double pressing!THE BAD: The THING THAT IS A TRULY HORRIBLE DESIGN is they didn’t make the face light up with all options illuminated so you can read them. It SHOULD BE that when you set the clock, and it shines, so should all the option. You honestly CANNOT READ THE OPTIONS. They are written in tiny white inset and we have to keep a flashlight on top of this unit to read Microwave, Broil, Convection, Hot-Air Fry, Times, etc. They JUST HAD TO KNOW it was impossible to read!!!THE UGLY: You’re stuck with it. I contacted GE & there is noting you are doing wrong if you can’t read the Face panel. Get a magnetic flashlight to stick it on the side of this unit!THE GOOD: Microwave Function seems great (so far) and you can adjust the watts. Convection Function is just a dream & is really an addition Air Fryer! Hot-Air fryer perfect (although people seem to not know whether the pan is for frying food or is a drip pan underneath (or both). Instructions don’t say how they are used for each of the Four Functions. What is strange is getting use to putting things metal in a microwave or forgetting to remove metal pans when switching to Microwave (BE CAREFUL). I do this by reminding myself “Now I’m switching to BROIL”, “Now I’m using CONVECTION Commands”. “Oh

Holds moisture, rusts quickly, and is made with cheap plastic parts that break.

Had this microwave for right at a year- was never really able to use the air fryer function, unless it was solely for something basic like chicken nuggets. Anything else, you’re better off just using an oven because it takes soo long. So, we ended up needing to have an air fryer out in addition to the microwave, even though my whole purpose for buying one they did both, was to free up counter space. We’ve always noticed a large amount of moisture build up inside, as well. To the point that after cooking anything with water, sauce, gravy etc- we’d have to wipe it down from top to bottom on the inside. I mean, it would be dripping down the sides and door. Within 6 mo, there was a rusty build up on the inside. The photo is of a clean microwave, but rusted one.The warning beeps have been annoying too, as others have stated. It locks back within seconds of stopping it. And when you open the door, it beeps and beeps and beeps, telling you that the food is hot. Just loud and obnoxious. Most recently, I went to push the button to heat something up, and it just pushed in all the way, and wouldn’t open. There is no alternate way to open the microwave if this happens either. Without taking it apart. My husband had to take the whole cover and front panel off, disconnect the wires, just to find where the issue was- which was a cheap plastic piece that unlatches the door, had snapped off of the part holding it together. We looked up the cost to replace just that part (because everything else essentially works fine) and through GE’s website, it’s $212. Dang near the price of a brand new one! The cheapest we found one anywhere else, was $96. For a plastic latch! So, an already fairly expensive microwave, completely useless after one year, because it’s made with a $100 piece of plastic. Just dumb. Also, when he took the cover off to find the broken piece, we noticed there was an extreme build up of RUST on the inside panel, from where the inside vent is, to let out moisture. Instead of

one of my favorite kitchen products

When I first used the microwave, I was skeptical that it really could perform several functions, including convention air-fry. But it really does. The extra features make this a standout product that will help save counter space. Egg rolls, for example are heated and crispy perfectly. Another feature I like is the 'pause' button, so you can stir a food without having to turn the system on and off.

Great, great, did I sat Great reliable quiet little microwave at a bargain price

My home came with GE Cafe appliances -- supposed to be an upgraded line for GE products -- sorry to say my GE microwave during a 3 year period needed repairs multiple times -- the LED screen replaced twice and the door switch system replaced-- a full new replacement for the GE Cafe goes for around $1000 -- ouch! For $179 this GE microwave looks almost identical -- same stainless steel and glass, same LED panel -- one problem, 1 inch smaller chassis width. I found a way to reframe our expensive Cafe enclosure to look like the 1 inch smaller microwave fits and esthetically looks the same -- and it has been working like a champ and also has an air fryer that my CAFE model didn't have -- it's quieter and has the same wattage power -- my repaired CAFE is sitting in a box in storage now -- when I sell the house it might go back into the enclosure but the $179 GE microwave is working perfectly like a champ so it has taken over the space once held by the unreliable GE CAFE Microwave.
