    An *absurdly* good blender.

I am not - WAS not - much of a "blender guy", but the Vitamix 5200 changed that. And even though I am typing this all out in a product review, where that sort of sentiment belongs, it still sounds absurd to me. Who gets impressed by a *blender*? Me, apparently.Prior to this Vitamix the only blender I had ever used in my *entire life* was an ancient Osterizer from the 70s. The thing is literally older than I am, but beyond all reasonable expectations it still somehow works. Go Osterizer, I guess? This year I grew way too many hot peppers, decided to make a bunch of hot sauce with them, and suddenly the Osterizer showed its age. While it was fine blending a couple of smoothies a month for us, it struggled to blend up 12 litres of hot sauce in one night, so I figured maybe the time had come to get a "real" (I.E. manufactured in this century) blender. After some internet research I selected the Vitamix 5200 as being the most likely not to struggle through my new hot sauce hobby, only to find that I was basically swatting a fly with a nuke. That old Osterizer took about 2 hours of blending and cooling down to do 12 litres of my (admittedly very thick) hot sauce puree. The Vitamix 5200 did all 12 litres in less than 2 minutes. The Vitamix 5200 is *absurd*. And that has made it life-changing for us.It doesn't matter what you put in there. You can just shove the most fibrous of vegetables in there, right up to the brim, and *bvvvvvt*, instantly pureed. Shove a bunch of ice in there...instant slushy. Anything that is a solid that you no longer want to be a solid anymore this blender will handle. So we went from a household that might make a couple of smoothies every month to one that is now bulk-making sauces, soups, and so forth. We even just toss hole grains of various types (wheat, oatmeal, rye, flax, etc.) and turn them into our own multi-grain flower, then into pre-mixed dry bread ingredients. When we are "low spoons" - I.E. we just don't have the jam to cook properly - we

    Amazing Vitamix blender

Lemon Scent who sold this blender are a fantastic company, I was initially disappointed that this blender came with an American plug and chose to return it. But Lemon Scent bent over backwards to meet my needs, they will supply an adapter to use in a UK kitchen.I purchased a Vitamix blender many years ago and fell in love with this versatile machine. Easy to use and clean. Worth the investment for sure.Thank you Lemon Scent.

    Good purchase

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐After years of buying cheaper blenders and replacing them every couple of years, I finally decided to buy a Vitamix. I wish I had done it sooner. This thing is built like a tank. It powers through frozen fruit, ice, nuts, vegetables, and anything else I’ve thrown at it without hesitation. Smoothies come out silky smooth with no chunks, and homemade soups, sauces, and dressings have a consistency that I could never achieve with my previous blenders. What impressed me most is how powerful and consistent it is. You don’t have to stop every few seconds to scrape the sides or shake the container. It simply works.Yes, it’s expensive. I hesitated because of the price, but after using it regularly, I understand why so many people swear by Vitamix. The performance, build quality, and reliability make it feel like a long-term investment rather than another kitchen appliance. If you’re on the fence because of the cost, consider how many cheaper blenders you’ll replace over the years. This is one of those products that lives up to the hype.Highly recommended.

Basic Version With Tall, Narrow Container

Sometimes it's best to get the basic version of a kitchen appliance because all the bells and whistles can lead to a breakdown in function. I chose this Vitamix blender because 1. I always wanted one and 2. I grabbed it when it was on sale for Prime Day. I researched the different models and found that this "basic" one had all the power that Vitamix is famous for without the complaints that some people have for the more elaborate models. I wanted a container that could self-clean -- more on that later -- and could power through ice cubes and frozen fruit without leaving chunks behind. I wanted to be able to prepare hot soups as easily as hummus and milkshakes. I got everything I wanted; however, this Vitamix is not perfect.First, I had to return my first blender because it leaked through the bottom. My second one worked as it should, but it bothers me that Vitamix lacked the quality control to catch the first defect. I had to wonder if I received a returned blender. For this model of Vitamix, the blade is supposed to be sealed to the bottom of the container; it cannot be removed. This design is critical for not only leak-free blending but also for cleaning. My second complaint has to do with how narrow the bottom of the container is. Vitamix does sell a wide-bottom container, but it is pricey since that, too, has the blade permanently installed. I have to use the included plunger at times to make sure everything in a full container gets processed.Last, because this is a basic model, it does not have pre-programmed settings for smoothies, soups, frozen drinks, etc., and you must control how long and how fast the blades move to reach your desired result. But, oh, the power! My strawberry daiquiris get made in almost no time, and, with a push or two through the lid, get completely and smoothly processed. I have an Oster Versa, and while in many ways it operates the same as the Vitamix, it is slower to get the same results. The friction created by the blades on high event

    Very disappointed.

I have had this thing now for months. Amazon required a video of the big chunks of almonds that remain even after a vigorous use of the highest speed of grinding and I did not know how to do that and send it. But I almost chocked on one that I didn't manage to strain out. I am using this thing because I cannot get a refund. But I have to first grind the almonds with some soft item at the highest speed. Then put the product through a strainer to remove the chockable chunks of almond and just chew them up. THEN I put the other ingredients into the blender to complete the process. It is only the almonds that it cannot handle. The old one made them into powder. I think this one is NOT new and was probably refurbished and passed off as new. Don't buy it. It is not strong enough to grind the almonds or other nuts. I had ordered this expensive 5200 Vitamix Blender to replace the 5200 Vitamix blender that had been very happy with and used daily for over 10 years. The old one was very powerful and really ground up carrots and almonds, etc. very well. But it had begun to emit a smell of some burning part. So I had to let it go. However, I am very disappointed with this new one. --My original review months ago was this:This one does NOT grind up solid ingredients. The nuts and carrots or any solid ingredients are still there in chunks. This remains the case EVEN it you run it longer, which--because it is loud--means being a nuisance to your neighbors that much longer. It just doesn't seem to have the power to do the job! I am sorry that I got rid of the old one. Why is this one--allegedly identical--so much less powerful? Could it be that it is NOT really brand new but an older one that was "refurbished" to resell--even though this was NOT indicated by Amazon.I would say, this one, even though it is very pretty, is a huge disappointment. Reconsider your needs if you are planning to purchase it .
