Beware - 110 Volts
Arrived original and new but unfortunately it is 110V and not 220V since it is from the US. Only order if you have 110V power supply in the house.

El mejor cafe
Esta cafetera hace el mejor café. Si está muy cara pero la verdad es que vale la pena el gasto. Esta muy bien hecho y se ve que nos va durar muchos años.

A very fine drip coffee maker
There are certain elements of this coffee maker that have been very well thought out. I think the most critical part is the boiler, which is located in the stainless steel tower, which very rapidly brings the water to the precise right temperature for an ideal brew. The second element that really impressed me is the stainless carafe. It's easy to fill and keeps the coffee hot for the duration of my wife's and my long Sunday mornings over a pot of coffee. I've read several reviews saying that the pot lacks thermal qualities and that their coffee got cold too quickly. That was not at all my experience. Most of those reviews were from a few years ago, which makes me wonder if the design was improved since then. Other reviewers comment on the relatively large footprint of the KBT... it's actually more compact and elegant looking than the Cuisinart model we replaced. It is; however, much taller, which could be an issue if placed under a cabinet (not our case). Overall, I really love the look of this machine. The plastic parts are meant to be replaceable over time, which is good to know such an expensive appliance will be supported over the long term. Some say the plastic is cheap. I'm pretty fussy and I think it's okay. Not Red Dot design award great but certainly not an issue that detracts from the package as a whole. Now, the most important part: how's the coffee? It's definitely a lot better than our previous machine from Cuisinart. There's some science behind getting the water temperature just right and using the right ratio of water to coffee. The Mochamaster comes with a guide that I feel waaaaay overstates the amount of coffee to use. I brew Kicking Horse Three Sisters and using the recommended 6.66 double scoops of coffee for 10 cups nearly sent me into cardiac arrest! It's actually recommended to cut the strength with hot water rather than to reduce the brewing ratio but I have backed off the potency to my taste. The point being, this takes some trial and error

Exceptional coffee brewer
I’ve had coffee from a moccamaster before and noticed a clean, non-muddy taste like I was experiencing with a vacuum pot coffee maker that I’d been using for many years; same type, not same one, many leaked or broke. Now the last one broke and is not available anymore so I’m making the leap to the KBT moccamaster as I prefer the carafe, to me it’s less items to maintain or have a chance of breaking. I made my first pot this morning and was pleased with the clean, no acidic bitterness, and the non muddy taste. Glad I purchased!! Now to tweak the beans/grind/water amounts to my preference.I do have to say the liquid volumes and measurements are not consistent; 10 cups is 1250 ml and that’s what’s on the water reservoir; but it is not 40 oz; it’s 42.267 oz. It can’t be both ways…yea; I’m an engineer; details matter…if people are weighing their beans or ground coffee accordingly to water volume for a particular ratio; this is when it also matters!Update: after a week of use I’m still impressed with the quality of the coffee brewing; but not with the carafe. The spout needs possibly redesigned? Every time I pour from the carafe something causes coffee to drip down from the pour spout area afterwards, I looked for a small deformation of the plastic but couldn’t find anything, not a game changer, but not impressed with it.Update 14June:very pleased with overall performance of the unit; finally figured out amount of beans and grind level to achieve the desired/similar taste profile I had with the vacuum pot but without the sediment. I did stop using carafe for holding after the coffee was made as the coffee was cooling down after a few hours, I now pour it directly after made into a carafe I’ve been using for years that keeps the coffee hot even at 6-7 hours.

Insanely Overrated
Edit********changed from 2 stars to 3 stars. The unit can make a good cup of coffee if you're willing to put in the effort. At this price point, effort should not be a requirement, but I don't mind a bit of effort for good coffee. What I have learned : this unit requires a finer grind than typical . On a baratza encore, setting 13. I also recommend closing the drip stop valve for the first 30 seconds or so to get a nice bloom going. The coffee is still somewhat weak, but my leading theory is the filters are too thick. They trap important oils and flavonoids that provide coffee with taste. The moccamaster filters make too "clean" of a cup.Ultimately, I will keep the unit because I like that I can play with it, and all it really does is send hot water over a basket. Not a whole lot to the process that can be blamed on it. Once I swap out the filters with something less aggressive, I think the brew will be really good.I hate to write this review, because I have looked forward to owning a moccamaster for years. Everyone speaks highly of it , whether it be coffee aficionados , cooking blogs, and kitchen appliance experts. My experience calls into question their taste in coffee.First, the unit itself is underwhelming. The plastics are cheap, flimsy, and warped. The water reservoir cover has a huge gap in its side that would allow all manner of debris and bugs into it. The cover is also a cheap and flimsy plastic that warps easily, preventing a seal with the edges of the reservoir.Similar lack of quality can be seen with the coffee basket as well. It's a low grade plastic basket that sits loosely and haphazardly on an equally flimsy bracket sticking out of the unit. The unit itself has a nice finish, and the aluminum paneling feels like good quality.I will say the carafe is great. The best I've seen in a coffee maker. It will keep coffee hot for atleast 2 hours. Now for the real purpose of this review and the reason for such a low rating. The design is fundamentally flawed , a

Best coffee I've ever had! Worth every penny!
Wow. What to say about this? If you like good coffee, and if you are looking for something that will pull out all sorts of subtle flavors the way good pour over does, and you have the money to spend on this, it's well worth it! I've been making pour over for over a year, and this blows those results out of the water. The only downside, for me, is that it makes a minimum of 16oz at a time, and I tend to be the only coffee drinker in America who drinks no more than 8oz in a day. That said, I find this coffee holds up in the fridge better than most other preparations. This is easy to use, so far extremely reliable, and I have not seen any leaking. Get yourself a good quality burr grinder to go with it -- as this device works like pour over, it calls for a coarser grind size than the standard "drip coffee" grind size sold in stores. (I find around halfway between medium and medium-coarse on my grinder is a good place to start. YMMV, of course.) All in all, I cannot recommend the Moccamaster highly enough. This is my first one, so I cannot compare it to other models, but I'd try any of them. This one is worth every penny.
