    Really great....if they last.

This is my third purchase of this refrigerator. One of them failed after just 5 years of use, which does not meet the durability test for me, especially when I read that the life expectancy should be 10-15 years. Maybe I got a clunker unit because the other one still works perfectly. So I went ahead and gave it five stars because when these do work, they work great. Since the other fridge is still going strong, I have high hopes for the new one. And yes, I do maintain the proper clearances and 'breathing' room recommended for the unit. The two were in identical operational settings. As for capacity, this varies based on the types of wine bottles you store. I alternate shelves between straight shoulder bottles, such as Cabernet/Merlot, and Rhone style bottles, such as Syrah/Pinot Noir. This works for me and ends up holding about 92 bottles at maximum capacity. The noise level is basically non-existent. The unit runs quietly and seems to be efficient. I keep the temperature set at 55 degrees and that seems to be consistent in all portions of the unit, from top to bottom.I also like the manageable size. It doesn't take up a huge amount of space for the amount of wine that it holds. Leveling is also quite simple with legs that you simply twist up or down. The door is solid, the shelves pull part way out for easy stocking, and overall the fridge feels quite sturdy. All in all I am pleased, I just hope this one lasts as long as it should, especially given the price.

    Great capacity and design!

Great capacity and design. Looks very high quality and a major upgrade from our prior unit. Love the temp control function.

    Unit Broke after 7 months

Unit was working great when after about 7 months I noticed the bottom section was warmer than the set thermostat temperature. I tried everything. Shut down the system, re-adjusted temperatures, removed all 80 bottles of wine, and the bottom was not cooling. I opened a case with Whynter support and they were very fast to respond AT FIRST. I did everything they requested including taking pictures of fans. I even gave them exact troubleshooting steps that I performed. As soon as we identified the issue, they went silent. I have been waiting for days with my expensive wine just sitting on the floor waiting for a response and next step. I even waiting on hold for an hour without anyone answering.I would highly recommend you look at another brand. Not just for quality reasons, but lack of support. Too bad too, as it is a really nice unit, and I even spent lots of $$ getting a custom insert to hold the unit.#WaitingByThePhone #whynter

So far, so good - solid affordable wine cooler.

    - Good value for the money - no frills but works well.- The shelves are metal wire but have front-facing wooden trim - looks attractive.- Bordeaux bottles fit well (as described) but nonstandard bottles may not pack at full capacity, but this is pretty standard.- Door opening can be adjusted left or right which is nice.- Noise level is on the quiet side. Not silent, of course, but acceptable for a common entertaining area.- Safely packaged when delivered.- The item is quite heavy so plan accordingly.I had the item for about a month. If there will be reliability issues, I will update the review.-

Does the job at a great price

This is what I would consider a no-frills unit, but it meets its purpose at a great price. I bought two of these as an alternative to a wine storage unit. 3 months in, I've updated my initial 4-star rating to 5 stars because of the value.Pros: Replaces a wine storage unit. As far as I'm concerned, wine storage units are a scam in terms of the number of cases they say you can fit, and which also suck because, to maximize the space, you have to store all your wine in boxes, so you have no visibility as to what's in there and it's pain to find anything, i.e., stacks of cases of wine (who has the time to inventory your wine collection, update labels on each box with the contents, etc.). You also have to drive to your unit, decide what you want to bring home, drag the cases out, load them again at home in your wine fridge, etc. I've probably lost days of my life to my wine storage unit.So having these units at home solves all that for me. It's keeping the wine at proper temp and making the wine easily accessible with the shelving, and it's IN MY HOUSE. And the price -- I'm not sure there are any other brands producing this style unit in this price range. Additional of electricity is de minimis. I hooked up a meter to test this, but based on my pre-existing wine fridges, I don't think the cost is more than $5 a month (you'd spend that on gas just to get to the storage unit).Neither pro nor con: Shelving - I have very similar fridges from an older brand that are no longer being made, which were a notch nicer in terms of the roll-out shelving but which cost $150 more five years ago (so would probably be more like $300+ more expensive with inflation). The shelving on these is a thick metal wire, with a wood front (as clearly provided in the description, which I appreciated). The wire shelving works fine and actually might allow for a bit more space between the shelves, so that they pull out more easily (vs. all-wood shelving). The all-wood shelves on my older model have bowed

    Nice size for moderate collection.

Nice unit and quality build. I like the temperature control. only issue is some of my larger 750ml bottles dont fit in some racks. I removed one rack and that solved the problem.

    Excellent wine fridge!

When it comes to wine fridges, there are many options, going to very expensive. But look no further than this Whynter 164 bottle unit! Looks nice, works great and is a bargain comparatively. It came very well packaged, no transit damage. Has adjustable feet which I found useful since it was going to be placed up against a wall and on carpet.Shelving slides nicely for this price point, and wines in pinot bottle format fit without issue. The dual zones work great; one for whites and one for reds. The blue lighting is pretty cool too, although I think every model has this. The door opens with a quality feel and the glass is smoked which adds to the luxury appearance. One small observation - the top display shelf wouldn’t quite fit some heavy duty 750 ml trophy bottles; I had to remove a shelf in order to accommodate. I’m fine with this as I wanted my trophy bottles to show!My unit runs near silently, and I’m pleased with its operation. Overall I think this is an outstanding value, looks great, runs perfect and we’re very happy with it. Highly recommended!
