Amazing options, a bit expensive in JP
The First thing you should know is how amazing it is to make whatever flavor you want, whenever you want, in the style you want.I am diabetic and the low sugar options available to me are very limited. With this machine I can make all kinds of low impact treats whenever I want, AND, if you get the right mixture, it can be stored, frozen, and is still scoopable later. Worst case you need to leave it on the counter for 10-15 minutes, and then it's scoopable. You can make super simple sorbets, my favorite so far is a can of pears, some cinnamon, blend it, pour it into the pint container, top up with water, mix, and then freeze. It takes 5 minutes to prep, 24 hrs to freeze completely.Or, you can make things you would never have the opportunity to try. I made a Persian Bastani for fun. It features saffron and rose water. Its a super floral flavor, not too sweet. But it was new and exciting. My neighbor brings her kids over every Thursday for a play date and the finale is choosing which ice cream flavor they want.Of note, I use an AI to help fine tune my recipes. There is a slightly complicated balance of sugars, fats, solids etc to get the perfect consistency and future scoopability. The first chocolate I made was terrible, so the second one I made off the cuff.I added some pudding mix, melted chocolate chips, xanthan gum, cream and a bit of milk. The final product was absolutely amazing. But, it was too thick and I could hear the motor struggling. So for the longevity of the ice cream machine, be sure to either follow a recipe, ask AI and specify which ice cream maker you have, or pay close attention to you ingredients balance. All in all, the price I paid for this machine in Japan was barely worth it, and that's because the ice cream it makes is so amazing. It was incredibly marked up to get an American machine here in Japan. If I had trusted the shipping to get it to me unbroken from America I could have save a couple hundred USD.But, it's a good machine, and it arrived quickl

Kind of intricate to operate for this old lady.
I have only used this item once but intend to get back to it once my health improves. I found it rather difficult to configure but it did make the world's best ice cream. If I was able to I would trade this item for the "Slushie".

Expensive
Don't get me wrong, its a great little device although I haven't used it fully yet but the reason I gave just 3 stars is due to the price..a bit on the expensive side for what it is

Plans to start your own ice cream parlor?
Overall, I'm happy with the purchase. I paid $280 ( which Amazon said was a Prime Day deal, turns out that wasn't accurate, but that's a whole nother kettle of fish). Anyway, we've used it several times and have a few good recipes dialed in. The machine works well and creates a consistent product. It's pretty big and definitely not quiet, but it only runs for 4 or 5 minutes, so not too too bad. According to to the package, you can run most of the parts through the dishwasher, but hand cleanup isn't bad either. My only other real complaint is that you have to re-spin the ice cream anytime you want it. You can't run a pint and leave it in the freezer and just kind of graze. It will eventually refreeze into a block again. Bottom line, if you go out for ice cream frequently, it's worth the price (maybe not full price, but if you catch it on sale...)

What a MACHINE!
This is by far the best ice cream machine on the market for home use! Of course this is the opinion of me and my Bride! We purchased this for our 27th anniversary because we wanted to have an ice cream bar. As you can see in the attached photo, we got what we wanted. Now I read reviews on this thing and have to say, a lot of people got it wrong. The instructions are so clear and easy to follow that even a Caveman could do it! As far as the noise complaints, they are wrong on that also. It’s no more noisy than your dishwasher. We purchased eight additional pints so we have ten total and they are all in the freezer with our favorite recipes. Yum,yum. There are plenty of outstanding recipes online and for KINDLE. We are extremely happy with this purchase and NINJA makes quality built products.

Excellent and Fun Machine
Awesome machine! We love it!!!! One container fills about 6 regular sized cake cones. My recipe for chocolate soft serve (What we use):2/3 cups (nonGMO) pure cane sugar1/4 tsp Xanthan Gum1-1/2 TBSP Nestle Cocoa Powder1/8 tsp salt or less (a pinch)Mix together dry ingredients in glass bowl.Add 1/4 cup Heavy Creamand 3/4 cup Half n HalfUse whisk to mix carefully and completely.Put glass bowl in microwave for 30 seconds, then take out of microwave and whisk this base mixture again until sugar granules are blendedAdd 1 more cup of Half n Half and stir with whisk until completely blended.Be sure you have closed your Ninja churning container and installed your selected nozzle shape on it, then pour the ice cream batter into your container to the Fill Line. If you need more Half n Half, add it and whisk lightly to finish.Cover with container top and Freeze 24 hours on a level shelf. Take out next day and follow machine directions for soft serve. We have used the frozen, unchurned ice cream up to a week after preparation and freezing. Enjoy! We love the easy clean up. Get a small brush cleaner and put a little soap on it. Clean the nozzle area and the inside of the container. Take the softserve pressure lid apart and use the gentle bristles with soap and water to clean all parts. On the main churning lid, remove blade over sink, clean with soap and water. If you let water run into the top opening on the blade, the water will squirt out the side, cleaning it more thoroughly. Clean the outside blade lid / churning lid and shake excess water off over sink. Put in dish drainer to dry. We do not put any of our Ninja Ice Cream parts into the Dishwasher. The containers can warp in the microwave, so we suggest you use that technique to soften ice cream to eat. Hope this helps.
