Received It Filthy & It Only Got Worse From There
I was excited to try the Instant Pot Duo Crisp, but my experience was nothing short of a disaster.First off, when I opened the box, the unit was covered in grease and oil and smelled like old food. It was disgusting. I’m convinced I was sent a renewed or returned model, but even if that were the case, the lack of sanitation was unacceptable. Still, I decided to give it a chance.I started by making rice, something simple. I put the rice in, attached the pressure cooking lid, and let it do its thing. It should have taken 10 minutes, but after 30 minutes, the unit hadn’t even reached pressure. That was extremely unusual, considering I’ve been using pressure cookers for five years. I figured maybe this model just worked differently, so I decided to cancel the cook and release the pressure manually. That’s when things got worse. The pressure release didn’t work at all the lid was completely stuck shut, and I couldn’t open it for hours. My food was trapped inside while I was hungry and frustrated. When I was finally able to open it, my rice was burnt to a crisp, which was even more upsetting given the cost of groceries these days.I read through the manual again and researched the issue, only to find out that this is a known problem with this model. Many others have had the same issue, yet they’re still selling these units new and used. If this hasn’t happened to you yet, it will eventually.Just to be sure, I ran three more tests with just water, and all three times, the lid got stuck, and I couldn’t release the pressure. At that point, I was done. I returned it instead of exchanging it because I didn’t want to take the risk of this happening again down the line.I originally bought this to replace my Ninja Foodi 2-in-1 air fryer/pressure cooker, but after this experience, I appreciate my Ninja even more. When I do upgrade again, it will not be with Instant Pot.Come to your own conclusions, but I wouldn’t recommend this product to anyone.

Amazingly simple! Simply Amazing!
Bought my Instant Pot Duo Crisp Ultimate here in "Used - Good Condition" fulfilled by Amazon. The thing arrived in perfect shape with all original literature. After doing a quick pressure test with 2 cups of water (just to make sure it seals), I was ready for my first cook. I had to go for the picture on the box: A whole chicken with veggies!I've never used a pressure cooker in my life and it was SO EASY. Seasoned the chicken, tossed in the veggies and 2 cups of water. Pressure cooked for 20 minutes. Then air fried for 20 more minutes to get the skin nice and crisp. The attached picture speaks for itself. Plus - tasty chicken broth as a wonderful by-product for another recipe in the future!Second dish I cooked was much simpler: plain jasmine rice. I rinsed the rice then added it to the pot with water at a 1:1 ratio, then set the pressure cooker for 3 minutes with 10 minutes of natural steam release. It came out perfect. The third dish I cooked was homemade split pea soup. Chopped ham steak, sliced sausage, chicken broth (used the stock from the whole chicken I had previously cooked), a slice of bacon, veggies/garlic, and a pound of split peas. My wife was so impressed she is now convinced this this appliance is magic. All of these things were so easy to do with this awesome appliance. Literally the press of a button or two and the turn of a knob to set the time.I am by no means an expert in the kitchen. Fortunately, Instant Pot is such a household name these days that you can find recipes for all sorts of dishes all over the internet, in magazines, and even in books. Cooking a meal has become fast, simple, and delicious around our household! And I feel so proud of the meals I've been able to easily make with this thing.I can't wait to make my own yogurt, homemade jerky, and take a stab at sous vide. I still love our 40 year old Crock-Pot... But I wonder if the slow cooker setting will produce results so good that I end up putting the old hand-me-down in storage! This m

Terrific range of functions but needs some improvements
This is one amazing machine, or would be, if all the functions worked well. The range of functions is amazing, but some of them are lacking. I’m really hoping Instant Pot will revisit this and make some improvements. Here is what I’ve found, after using it for two years:The pressure cooker function works very well, except that you can only adjust the pressure to high or low. Some functions let you set the temperature in degrees, like Bake. But they only let you go up to 400F. However, since it’s essentially using the air fryer lid for this, it functions like a convection oven. But it doesn’t tell you this anywhere. Thankfully the chicken fillets that had instructions for baking and not air frying were fine done this way, for only slightly longer than the instructions said for an oven. The Sous Vide function doesn’t have as wide a range of temperatures as my sous vide stick, so there are recipes I can’t use it for. Likewise, the yogurt function doesn’t allow you to set a temp to distinguish between mesophilic and thermophilic yogurts, let alone the very specific ranges of some other probiotics. So I haven’t used it for this. And one of my biggest frustrations is that while it has a sauté function, it won’t work unless the lid is shut. One of the things I loved most about my old Farberware one was I could sear meat and then pressure cook it, which improves both texture and taste. Not being able to do this means dirtying two pans instead of one.I do love the stainless steel pot. I’ve found it to be sturdy, and the pot itself is easy to clean. It doesn’t come up to pressure or pressure release as fast as my Farberware did (and it was 7 quarts). The air fryer does come up to temperature pretty quickly. We did find that taking the steam release gasket off, cleaning it and straightening it out since it was folded in on itself did improve the steam release time. We waited until it was out of warranty before doing this. Didn’t even realize it was the problem before. All in all, I

Air Fryer/ Instant Pot Combo
My beloved original instant pot died shortly before my birthday m, so I researched newer models and settled on the ultimate 6.5 qt combo. I was considering buying an air fryer, so an all in one device was a clear choice. It takes up the same amount of countertop space as my older model and functions the same. This model has a removable inside lid to change from air fryer to instant pot, the digital display tells you everything you to do and if something is not right with the lids or secured lock, it will tell you before you can start your cooking cycle. The first device I received had a sensor malfunction within the 1st week of owning it, but after contacting instant pot customer service, it was quickly resolved and I got a brand new device mailed to me. I was a bit skeptical if it would happen again, but I'm happily using my new device for over 2 months with zero issues.
